Presentation of ESAD-CR BATIDA Projects at MPG

Under the protocol between ESAD-CREscola Superior de Artes e Design das Caldas da Rainha and MPG office furniture the 30 proposals of the 2nd year students of the degree of Industrial Design within the BATIDA Project were presented yesterday, June 30th. This project is  oriented by the Designer and Professor Miguel Vieira Baptista, during the 2nd semester, which consisted in designing office products, exploring one of the industry techniques, the sheet metal bending.

Miguel Vieira Baptista studied design at IADE, in Lisbon, and graduated in product design at Glasgow School of Art. Since then, he has been developing projects for several companies in the areas of product, exhibition and interior design.

The students were introduced to MPG, in the auditorium, followed by a visit to the showroom and factory. After lunch, each student had 5 minutes to defend and present their prototype.

The projects will now be evaluated by a jury composed by Joana Cotter Salvado, architect and head of partnerships of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale; José Ideias, technical designer of MPG; Manuel Amaral Netto, designer and creator of UTIL; Miguel Vieira Baptista, teacher and designer; and Pedro Nunes, Commercial Director of MPG.

The evaluation will take into account the presentation, originality, feasibility, function and marketing potential and prizes will be awarded to the 3 best works of the BATIDA project.
